1/14 - garage

These following pictures are for Brad since it's the only way I have to show him pictures. I've noticed our garage from slowly separating from our house but as I closed the garage door yesterday after I took out recycling, I really noticed it. You can see some gaps from the garage door to the frame of the house.
This next picture if for frame of reference. You can see a pretty big gap that is developing on side. It's only on the side of the garage that the garage opener is mounted to.
This is the left side - no big gaps.
This is the right side - very big gap all the way around.
I also found yesterday what I thought was the stuff our house is made out of. However, my neighbor thinks it's dried caulk (and I think he's right). There is a ton of it peeling off around the top of the garage. I've found the paperwork of the installation of the garage opener and I'm not sure if Home Depot will do anything it. I'm gonna call them later today.
After I picked the boys up from daycare yesterday, they wanted to play outside. It was pretty darn cold but I let them play for a little bit. Eli now thinks the tricycle is his and thankfully Aiden went for the stroller anyway. I looked on Craigs list last night for a tricycle because I can see that we will need 2 soon.
Eli was playing with the racetrack last night while I was getting dinner ready. I was pretty excited he was playing by himself and using the toy correctly. It won't be long until he can do that with more and more toys (that's what I tell myself at least). When he can play by himself a little more and learn to eat better by himself, my life will get much easier.
While I gave Eli a bath last night, Aiden was playing with his cars.
Eli loves bath time and I am trying to figure out a system to bath both boys and they can both play. Eli likes toys to play with, Aiden can't stand them really. He keeps just 1 toy or a car and plays with that the whole time. Also, Eli likes to give Aiden hugs and stretch out and blow bubbles in the bath tub and Aiden doesn't like that because he says, "have no room." I will get a new system down pretty soon but it's definitely so much easier when Brad is around for bath time.
Aiden was up coughing much of the night. He got up at 12:30am and turned his lights on and was crying for me. He must have been crying for me for a while because his pj top and bottom were kinda wet from his tears. He then wanted new pj's because his were wet. He didn't want to go to sleep by himself but he was so tired. I laid on the floor for a bit and then snuck out of his room. He was awake by 6:30 and had drenched the sheet and his clothes with pee.
The boys played with phones for a while this morning. I took Eli to daycare a little after 9:00am. I let Aiden watch Cars while I got some work done and then we went to pick up Eli before lunch. This morning Eli was playing with the jet from the Hess truck Santa brought him.
Boys are napping and I'm gonna take a little nap too seeing how I was up so much last night with Aiden and then up really early with him as well.

1/12 - Daddy is gone

The past few days have been quite emotional for us. We dropped Brad off for his brief yesterday morning and then I took Eli to get a shot at the clinic. That went pretty fast and we went back to say good-bye to Brad. It ended up his flight was delayed due to weather so we picked him up and took him to the NEX to get some stuff he forgot/didn't have. Aiden actually agreed to wear his flight suit so he could look like daddy. It was too cute.

After we got the things Brad needed, we got him some lunch to take back since he would by flying during lunch time. Brad put a penny in a pocket of Aiden's flight suit and Aiden thought that was pretty cool.We got one last family picture in the food court before we headed back to the van where Brad would say bye to the boys and give them their hugs.
When Brad was giving the boys their final hug in the parking lot, Aiden wanted Brad's hat. Brad put it on his head and he was smiling. When I asked if I could take a picture he frowned and said no (hence Brad laughing).
Aiden gave daddy a great good-bye hug.
Eli was starting to get fussy (that's why he got the paci) but he gave Brad a pretty good hug too. I should mention that Eli has gotten 3 out of his 4 first year molars in the past 2 days!
We drove Brad back to the squadron and I snapped one last picture of Brad and I. I gave him a very long hug and then we left.
I was sad but the kids kept me busy. Brad kept getting delayed (there were tons of low clouds out) and at 3:30/4:00 told me they were cancelled. I had such mixed feelings. I was frustrated because we already said good-bye but part of me was happy because that was another evening we had together. We went and picked him up and had leftovers. We gave the boys baths, put them to bed, then watched Biggest Loser.
Because of an early brief time today, I couldn't take Brad to the squadron. We said our good-byes at home (much easier than yesterday) and Brad left for the squadron. It was a beautiful day and they took off without any problems. I'm sure Aiden is so confused because we keep telling him this is the last time he'll see Brad for a long time and then he gets to see daddy. Both boys woke up really early this morning so Brad got to see both before he left at 6:45am. He is safely in Norfolk and I had a very busy day with Bible Study, some errands, and work. We have one more night of talking/texting before we can't do that anymore so I'm gonna soak it up tonight!

1/10 - Pre-deployment days

We have been focusing on spending time as a family so I haven't had much time for the blog. We've had a great last few days before Brad leaves. We had family pictures done on Friday morning and they turned out great. I can't wait to share them soon.
Brad packed his bags on Friday night and we took them to base on Sunday morning before sunday school. The boys weren't really sure what to make of all of daddy's bags.

We got great news on Sunday on the way into church that Brad doesn't have to leave until Tuesday (he was supposed to leave Monday). In church on Sunday, Brad and I become members of our church which was good. The top picture is Aiden in his Awana-bees shirt. He goes to AWANA on Sunday night and is very excited to have shirt like all the other boys and girls in his class. He wanted to daddy to put on a matching shirt so Brad found an old softball one. Aiden wore that shirt, home and also to bed. He wanted to wear it on Monday too but I convinced him I had to wash it.
The boys went to daycare on Monday and Brad went to work in the morning. Brad and I hung out in the afternoon for a bit and then got the boys and went to Chic-fil-a for dinner. The boys had a blast playing with daddy and Eli didn't get another black eye this time. I felt so blessed God gave us another day and night with Brad.
Brad leaves tomorrow morning for his deployment. The boys and I are going to take him to base and say our good-byes.
